If you are looking into a switch to medical coding, the top two certifications are the CPC or the CCS. Both are excellent choices, and deciding between them depends on what kind of coding you want to do. Inpatient coding (coding a whole hospital stay) is more aligned with the CCS, and typically has a higher salary but is more complex.  The CPC is for coding provider services (office visits, surgeries, procedures, etc) and a great overall certification.
