KCWhen it comes to the traditional methods for creating a custom grill, you’re really limited to a lot of machining… or a lot of labor. I wanted to create something that was relatively cheaper to the full billet cnc option but also wasn’t lacking customization and a clean finished product. So, I got some smart friends involved and got committed to that labor intensive part. I started by having @buildingmydream_dayton 3d scan the finished opening, then Tyler @reversion_raceworks CAD designed the multi-piece assembly (he crushed it!). From there I made a few tweaks for manufacturing and sent the laser cut .125” 6061 slats off to @sendcutsend and the 4 fiberglass embedded nylon surround parts to @craftcloud3d where they were manufactured in the USA. After navigating all that it was just a ton of work on my end cleaning parts, zapping it together, refining the finishes, and overall enjoying the creation of a component I’m really proud of! It’s 6lbs lighter than a cast stock grill, looks awesome just slightly larger and mildly different from factory, and cost at least $10k less than having a massive billet whittled out.
