Which decrease do you prefer? I almost always use the invisible decrease since I think it looks neater and more like a single crochet stitch. It also adds less bulk since we are going through the front loops only and can help create less gaping holes when decreasing at the end of a project. 💗 However, sometimes I use a traditional decrease especially if I’m making a project with the back loops only.

Welcome to another #JustAtipTuesday - Today I’m showing you how to eliminate gaps and make your decreases look seamless using the invisible decrease technique. In a standard decrease, where you crochet two stitches together you would: insert hook into first stitch, draw up a loop, then insert hook into second stitch before finishing your decrease. This technique is great when working in rows or with mix of taller stitches. However, when it comes to amigurumi, the standard decrease becomes quite noticeable. Not only that but it also leaves larger gaps allowing the stuffing to show. To avoid this and make your decreases blend with the rest of the stitches, use the invisible decrease method: - Insert hook into front loop of the first stitch, and into front loop of the second stitch (3 loops on hook) yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over and pull through remaining two loops. #theknottyboss #crochetsecrets

The regular decrease creates a little bump that will be noticeable on your toy. The invisible decrease won’t be noticeable and will less likely create holes between the stitches. There are different methods for decreasing. Here I showed three of them. Definitely my favorite is the last one, invisible decrease, and it’s most recommended for Amigurumi. It’s the least obvious decrease as the name implies. But crocheters are using all of them for different purposes, for example you can use sharp decrease when you want to have sharp close up. Since I use x single crochet I used the term yu, but you can replace it with yo if you prefer v stitches. (yu: yarn under, yo: yarn over) I know the video is not slow enough but I hope the texts are helpful. :) #amigurumi #crochet #crochettutorial #amigurumitutrial #amigurumiwitheli
