⚠️ It pays to be croc wise when near and around the water... ⁠ You just don't know where they are! 🐊👀⁠ ⁠ It's sadly been confirmed that a croc has taken a Rotweiller in the Fitzroy River, Rockhampton, and I know hearing when someone, or something, is tragically taken by any animal, can be triggering.⁠ ⁠ Avoiding croc habitats altogether is obviously the only way to stay 100% safe, but we also want to be confident and competent in going about and living our everyday lives as well!⁠ ⁠ Since they were protected from hunting in the early 70’s, crocodile numbers have increased significantly and they are now found in many places that were once deemed safe.⁠ ⁠ With a tonne of resources out there on staying safe around crocs, we have summarised them all for you over on our blog to hopefully make it a bit easier.⁠ ⁠ Comment 'SAFE', and i'll send you the link.⁠ ⁠ 📷: Minco de Bruin⁠ ⁠ #croc #crocodile #northqld #crocwise #crocsafety

It’s a great experience and I’d recommend it to all visitors to the NT. We love our crocs up here, and this is, in my opinion, the best way to see them in action safely. You’ll learn a lot, and you’ll come away with a new found respect for these amazing animals.. and it’ll definitely motivate you to be Crocwise in Croc Country 😉 🐊 This is Casanova, he’s around 5m long and you can meet him on Spectacular Jumping Crocodile Cruise.

There’s always a bigger one! 💀💀💀 Amazing capture from @wildmanadventures who writes: ・・・ Death becomes us all.. Heavy scenes on the river today when I spotted Casanova, a 5.3m, 750-800kg Saltwater Crocodile, with a large dead crocodile firmly secured in his jaws. Over the course of around 45 minutes we watched him swim around showing it off, give it a few shakes and even eat some.. it’s safe to say it’ll all be in his guts by morning. I hadn’t seen Casanova for a few days, and the croc he had hold of looked like it’d been ejected from its mortal coil for a few days at least.. and while I can’t confirm Casanova sealed its fate, I CAN confirm that is the most likely scenario. It’s well documented that Saltwater Crocodiles are cannibalistic, but seeing it in person is as heavy as it gets. Just another day in the Territory NATURE IS METAL 💀🐊 Northern Territory Australia STAY CROCWISE

Cahills Crossing at Kakadu is probably one of the most infamous water crossings in the world due to the incredible power of the changing tides and the hundreds of saltwater crocodiles that call the East Alligator River home. The natural behaviours of the crocodiles at Cahills is a phenomenon and every year thousands of visitors flock to Kakadu to catch a glimpse of these incredible apex predators fishing for barramundi on the turn of the tide. While Cahills Crossing is easily passable during low tide (we have even done it!), unfortunately many drivers attempt the crossing in extremely unsafe conditions, putting their lives, and the lives of others at risk. Every body of water in northern Australia is considered crocodile country.
