This was a very interesting challenge commissioned by @foulbhattiautopsy (remember you can ask for your tone in my link — Criptopsy - Sl*t Your Guts 🔪 This was a very interesting challenge commissioned by @foulbhattiautopsy (remember you can ask for your tone in my link in bio). He told me he has heard this tone could be a Metal Zone in front of a clean Marshall JCM800... really odd, since I think by that time JCMs might have had FX loops... but whatever, it was a big challenge to show if you can make the MT2 sound good in front of the amp. Long story short? CUT. DOWN. HIGHS. And if you watched carefully, you know you gotta boost bass as well. Both much more vs running through the FX loop. Recommendations based on what I did: 1. Take down a bit of highs in the MT2 (not so much, but don’t boost them like if you were in the FX loop) 2. Take down some more in the amp EQ 3. If you have the possibility, place your mic a bit angled/sideways to decrease the annoying sizzle in the top end 4. Give it a final blow by filtering highs (I’m filtering above 7k hz) And this is the tone I got after quad-tracking guitars, which also helps to tame the higher end. I might have rolled off some tone in my guitar too.
