University of Southern California will release Early Action decisions on Friday, January 16. Ahead the release, USC shared 3,800 students will be admitted through Early Action. USC received 40k+ applications for the EA round. Everyone else will be deferred to Regular Decision. USC does not deny in the early action round. No data was shared from Early Decision Majors that require a portfolio or audition are considered in the Regular Decision round. Regular decisions will come out in late March. Anyone deferred is no longer considered for Merit Scholarships Merit scholarships will be announced on Jan 30 Deferred students only need to do two things: 1. Submit mid-year grades 2. Complete deferral form in portal No Letters of Continued Interest and No additional recommendation letters Last year USC received 83k apps and had around a 10% admit rate. If you meet the eligibility requirements, you are entitled to the Cal Grant! No competition! 2. Transfer Entitlement Deadline: Do you already have a Cal Grant at the community college, but are transferring to a Private College? You need to submit your application by March 2nd to qualify for the Cal Grant Transfer Entitlement Award! The Cal Grant Community College Entitlement Award cannot transfer to a Private College. No Cal Grant at the Community College? Apply by March 2nd to be a new awardee at the 4-year college you are transferring to! 3. Middle Class Scholarship Deadline: You must submit your FAFSA or CADAA by March 2nd every year to be considered for the Middle Class Scholarship. 4. Colleges may use March 2nd as their own deadline for awards such as the State University Grant at the CSU campuses! Just look at the volume: UCLA – 146,672 UC San Diego – 141,752 UC Berkeley – 133,128 UC Irvine – 125,987 UC Santa Barbara – 108,503 UC Davis – 104,850 UC Santa Cruz – 78,832 UC Riverside – 72,295 UC Merced – 48,499 When families see these numbers, the first reaction is often: “How is my student supposed to compete with that?” The reality is that UC admissions has become incredibly competitive, and understanding how the process works matters more than ever.
