Stop cutting off your proximal nail fold. It is not your cuticle and it’s helping keep out pathogens.
I am aware that this is called a “russian manicure” and it’s a “technique” and people say infections only occur when dirty tools are used. While dirty tools 100% play into infections, it isn’t the only thing. If you remove a barrier that’s protecting you, one’s own personal hygiene is going to impact the risk of infection. I can pretty much assume nobody says “hey, im removing the protector layer so you’re now more susceptible to infections, wash constantly”, so infections can happen and they are common!
