OGThere are two ocean inspired techniques that sit at the heart of my work. Cuttlefish casting is a traditional process where I carve my design into a natural cuttlefish bone before pouring molten metal into it. The bone leaves behind raw organic textures that echo the movement of water and shifting coastal sand, meaning every casting is completely one of a kind.
Working with kyanite is a separate and equally personal process. I individually select each stone for its colour, clarity, and natural patterning. The tones remind me of different moods of the sea, from calm shallow waters to deep stormy blues. Each stone is then carefully set by hand so it becomes the focal point of the piece, bringing a quiet reminder of the ocean into everyday wear.
