AAI refuse to let my dad go to his doctor’s appointments alone.
Not because he can’t but because he shouldn’t have to.
I will always be there to translate, to ask the questions, to make sure his voice is heard clearly and fully. To slow things down when needed. To speak up when something doesn’t sit right. To make sure he gets the care he deserves.
In the latino and hispanic community, so many things get overlooked. Sometimes it’s language. Sometimes it’s assumptions. Sometimes it’s doctors moving too fast and not listening enough.
We’ve been incredibly blessed with an amazing medical team, and I’m so grateful for that. But I still choose to show up every time because advocacy is love, presence is love, and protection is love.
This is me making sure my dad is cared for the best way possible 🤍
