Why do you keep falling out of your turns? It’s not random, there is more you can be doing to ensure clean turns every time. Let’s fix it. 🌪️ Here are 3 common reasons you’re losing your turns and exactly how to clean them up! 1. You’re not truly stacked over your standing leg. If your weight is even slightly off, your center can’t hold. Fix it: Before you turn, pause and check your alignment: hips over heel, ribs closed, core lifted. Think up before you think around. 2. Your core isn’t fully engaged. Turns don’t come from momentum alone, they come from control. Fix it: Engage your deep core before you push off. Imagine cinching a corset around your waist and lifting out of your supporting leg the entire time. 3. Your arms are disconnected or inconsistent. Loose or delayed arms will throw off your rotation every time. Fix it: Set your arms with intention and bring them in sharply to first. No floating. No hesitation. Your arms should arrive exactly when your turn begins. Clean turns aren’t about forcing more rotations, they’re about mastering the details that keep you centered. Save this, apply it, and watch your turns completely change. #danceteicks #dancetraining #turns #danceteacher #dancetips

A lot of us naturally dance inside an invisible box. Our arms stay close to the body and we don’t fully extend Try imagining the box is twice as wide, reach farther than what feels comfortable. Take up the space, finish your shapes, air out your armpits It might feel dramatic at first but I’ve noticed the camera shrinks moves so dancing bigger usually shows up better Dancing bigger helps fix awkward arms and it’s also the first step to learning how to control your moves and energy Comment "ROADMAP" and i'll send you beginner dances to practice this on~ 👇 Which one are you? #dancetips #beginner #dancer #dancejourney #kpopexplore

I’ve never failed a single audition in my style of dance… Usually, I turn on my alter-ego “Audition Dana” and these are the things that help me book jobs and get projects: 1. The audition starts the moment you arrive.🫣 They’re not just watching your dancing — they’re noticing your character too. Smile, be polite, and stay professional. Even if you’re tired or sick, try to look engaged (a little eyebrow lift works wonders). 2. Do mindset prep.🧠 People say auditions aren’t competitions, but you still need the right energy. Make an audition playlist, hype yourself up, and practice positive self-talk. Be confident, but also know it’s okay if it doesn’t work out. 3. Be extra prepared.🗂️ Auditions can run long, so bring water and snacks. I usually pack a few outfit options (all black, something bright, and something very fitted). Also bring multiple resumes and headshots — the industry standard is 8×10 inches with a semi-gloss finish (photo paper). 4. Stay “on” the entire time.👀 Even when you’re not dancing, stay present and animated. Your face should always be on — even when you think no one is watching. Support other dancers, react, and stay engaged with what’s happening in the room. 5. Connect with other dancers.🫂 I like to do this at the end so I stay focused, but you’ll see these people often — and they might share useful information. Save this for your next audition. What are your favorite tips?🌸 Good luck ✨ and stay tuned for Part 2!! #danceaudition #auditiontips #dancerslife #dancementor #dancetips

🔥 Technique in Action 🔥 Strong, controlled kicks like this don’t happen overnight… they’re built through consistent training, correct alignment, and focused technique. At Amy Mackie Dance, our students work hard to develop strength, flexibility, balance, and control, ensuring technique is both powerful and safe. Every lift of the leg is supported by core strength, turnout, and precision not just height for height’s sake. We’re so proud to see our dancers applying their training with confidence and determination. This is what progress looks like. 💪✨ 👏 Hard work. Strong foundations. Real results. #dancers #kicks #technique #foundation #dancetips

Every time I see a dancer struggling to land their aerial, it almost always comes down to one of these 3 things. If your aerial just isn’t clicking yet, chances are you’re missing one of these key pieces. Watch this and figure out which one is holding you back.. once you fix it, your aerial will start coming so much easier. ✨ #aerial #acroskills #dancecoach #dancetips #danceconsulting

Trying hard in fan kicks but getting the same judges corrections to just “lift higher?” Is there a better way⬇️ Fan kicks are often thought of as circles but this can limit the height of the leg, instead try thinking of it as a triangle. Focus on a sharp battement for the first half and a controlled leg coming down and watch your fans on stage improve! It’s not technique. It’s not flexibility. It’s not even how long you’ve been training. It’s the ability to perform, not just execute. Great dancers make you feel something. They connect with the music, fill the space, and make every person in the room forget they’re watching rehearsed movement. You build that by performing regularly. Not when you’re “ready” because you’ll never feel ready. You build it by getting on stage, making mistakes, and learning that the audience is always on your side. We create performance opportunities for students of all levels at Queensland World Dance Academy. ✨ Your first step is a free trial class, link in bio. #danceperformance #dancetips #stagepresence #danceschool #brisbanedance

1. Body maintenance is a non-negotiable. Properly warming up, cooling down, and recovery in and out of season is vital for a long dance career. The true pros are always taking care of themselves because their body is their number one priority. 2. Nutrition & timing. Protien + carbs POST rehearsal/performance, just carbs PRE rehearsal/performance. Dancers are athletes so they must fuel that way. 3. Sleep is your best friend. Getting a good night’s sleep will make or break a performance. 4. Visualization. Many professionals visualize themselves performing a role before they do it to help prime the brain for success, improve muscle memory, and increase confidence before they go on stage. 5. Cross training with intention. Not overdoing it in the gym but instead training for better endurance, more power, balanced strength, and better agility. 6. Learn by watching. You can gain so much by watching your peers dance. You can learn from their artistry, their technique, their habits, and their approaches… look at this reel for example (I did just that 😉) 7. Remove the mirror. Learn to dance without the mirror as something you NEED to check alignment. It’s easy to fall victim to only watching yourself vs. FEELING and embodying things fully. The mirror is a tool, but it can also very easily become a crutch if you abuse it. #professionaldancer #dancerlife #dancecareer #prodancer #dancetips

Dance Competiton Season is in full swing! I grew up competing dance every weekend and I loved every minute I danced, but I also got stressed out often Now that I am a dance competition emcee, and on the other side of the stage, I have learned so much that I wish I knew when I was a dancer! So I am starting this series to give dancers advice on how to have a fun weekend and reduce the stress that comes from dance! Stepping on stage as a dancer is like a football player, stepping out onto the football field it is a high stress environment with all eyes on you but if you practice and are prepared for all different plays you and your team will shine on stage! So follow along as I fill you in all dance season! #dancetips #dancecompetitionseason

It’s simple: When given 20 minutes to learn a combo, our girls go beyond learning the steps. They make sure to serve three things every time: 1. Clean technique - sloppy execution can ruin a choreographer’s vision 2. Strong musicality - timing. matters. 3. Personality - dance is fun and a window into who you are, so make it YOU! So what makes our girls different — and more prepared for future opportunities? They can learn dances quickly but also make it their own - a powerful skill that matters more than some let out! Plus, our girls do tap - BIG plus in the dance world! Keep up the good work dancers! #tapdance #dancetips #industryinsights
