EMPeople always get their flabbers all ghasted when I talk about using ACIDIC DEMIS for grey blending.
Listen, when done in THIS sort of application, acidic Demi staining is just enough. Of course, if youโre working against a strong demarcation line & youโre NOT using highlights to blend, then sure - you might want to use an alkaline Demi, or permanent + 5/10 volume. The benefit of using an ACIDIC Demi imo, is 1) no unwanted warmth/brass & 2) a STUNNING grow-out.
Formula (all @dangerjonesbalayage color)
Demi between foils: 2/3 6-0, 1/3 7-0 gloss toner
Highlights: Powder lightener + 10-30vol
Rootsmudge: 2/3 5-0, 1/3 6.01 (applied everywhere EXCEPT around the face bc we want it to grow out ๐ค๐ค)
Toner: 40ml 10-1, 20ml 9-1, 20ml 9-2, one capful (5ml) 9-3

EMI already know someoneโs going to ask and NO this is not an alkaline Demi. Itโs an acidic Demi gloss toner. The demi โstainsโ the grey, making them look like highlights, and then adding highlights on top create extra dimension and brings it all together.
For my client here, we used @dangerjonesbalayage gloss in 7-0 - A level 7 on hair thatโs a natural level 4 bc weโre trying to make her greys look like level 7-ish highlights. Then we did packed in baby weaves around the face with powder lightener + 10vol, and airtouched everything else with 10-15vol. Finished w/ a gloss toner of 2/3 9-32 & 1/3 10-03 processed for 10min.
