FAHave you played Dark Cloud (PlayStation 2)?
Dark Cloud feels like one of those games that still counts as a hidden gem, even though plenty of people know it exists. The combination of dungeon crawling and city building is way more addictive than it sounds on paper.
The combat is simple but it feels good, and there’s a strong sense of progress as you upgrade weapons and slowly bring the towns back to life. The characters are charming, and while the story is not doing anything revolutionary, it has enough warmth and personality to keep you invested.
The Georama system is easily the standout. Rebuilding the world piece by piece and figuring out what each resident wants is genuinely satisfying, especially when you see the towns start to feel alive again.
It is not a perfect game. Some of the dungeons can feel repetitive, and the weapon durability system can be frustrating. Still, it is absolutely worth playing if you like RPGs with unusual ideas. Just expect a bit of grinding along the way.
