LI“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
So Jesus tells the apostles that He still has a lot to teach them, but they’re are not yet ready.
Why are they not ready?
They are so focused on the trials that are coming that they are sad and confused.
This is why they needed the Holy Spirit, the comforter who will lift them up and guide them into all truth.
The Spirit guided the apostles into all truth which they recorded.
This promise is very important to clarify.
Jesus said the Spirit will guide [them] into all truth
This promise was specifically to the apostles.
Why?
God had chosen them to author the NT. So God needed their teachings to be completely accurate without error. We know this to be true because
Jesus said The Holy Spirit will guide [them] into all truth and The Holy Spirit will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak;
The Holy Spirit made sure their teachings would be completely accurate by bringing to their memory Jesus’ words and giving them the understanding that the father and son told Him to.
and He will tell [them] the things to come
The things to come refers to the
return of Jesus
The judgement seat of Christ
The judgement of unbelievers
God’s plan for Israel and
God’s plans for the Church.
The NT epistles revealed all this by the Holy Spirit.

LIAnd when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; 11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
There are plenty of teachings out there today that sound spiritual but they are not biblical. One of them is this “the evidence that you are saved is if the Holy Spirit convicts you of your sins” and they will use this passage to teach that, but that's not what Jesus is teaching. Jesus says that the Holy Spirit convicts the entire world and not just believers.
Remember Jesus said, 15.22 “because Jesus has come and given us His word, unbelievers have no excuse for their sin and the singular sin he was referring to was rejecting Him.
Notice Jesus doesn't say the Holy Spirit will convict the world of sins, He says sin singular
“Convicts” gk. “Elenchō” Refers to rebuking or correcting an error, or convincing of the truth.
The Holy Spirit’s role in salvation is to convince unbelievers of the truth of the gospel. So that they place their faith in Christ which they have not yet done.
The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin because they do not believe in Jesus.
The Holy Spirit convicts the world of unbelief in Jesus, through the preaching of the gospel.
As faithful believers preach the gospel we expose the unbelieving world's need for a savior, and reveal Jesus to them as the savior.
Through us the Holy Spirit reveals the truth, and people are still responsible to respond to the truth by believing
The Holy Spirit convicts the entire world of unbelief and also righteousness.
He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness…of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;
