✨ Master the basics of shaping in crochet ✨ Whether you want your project to grow bigger (increase) or shrink neatly (decrease)—these two stitches are the secret! 🧶💡 Once you learn inc and dec, you can make amigurumi, garments, and creative crochet patterns with perfect shaping. 💛 Are you Team ➕Increase or Team ➖Decrease? 😉 — @Thread_Tales22 Description⬇️ 🧶 Crochet Tutorial: How to Increase Stitches by @Thread_Tales22 👉 Increase (inc) means making two stitches in the same stitch. This helps your crochet piece expand (used for circles, shaping toys, etc.). Steps (Single Crochet Increase): 1. Insert hook into the stitch. 2. Yarn over, pull up a loop (2 loops on hook). 3. Yarn over, pull through both loops → 1 sc made. 4. Insert hook into the same stitch again. 5. Repeat the steps → now you have 2 sc in one stitch. 🧶 Crochet Tutorial: How to Decrease Stitches by @Thread_Tales22 👉 Decrease (dec / sc2tog) means turning two stitches into one. This helps your crochet piece shrink / taper (used for shaping toys, dolls, and garments). Steps (Single Crochet Decrease): 1. Insert hook into the next stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop (2 loops on hook). 2. Insert hook into the next stitch again, yarn over, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook). 3. Yarn over, pull through all 3 loops. ✅ That’s a Decrease! . . . . . . . . . . . . . #Thread_Tales22 #CrochetBasics #CrochetTips #CrochetIncrease #CrochetDecrease #CrochetForBeginners #LearnCrochet #AmigurumiBasics #FiberArt #Thread_Tales22 #CrochetBasics #CrochetIncrease #CrochetDecrease #LearnCrochet #CrochetForBeginners #CrochetTips #AmigurumiBasics #CrochetCommunity #FiberArtFun #CrochetLife #fyp

Welcome to another #JustAtipTuesday - Today I’m showing you how to eliminate gaps and make your decreases look seamless using the invisible decrease technique. In a standard decrease, where you crochet two stitches together you would: insert hook into first stitch, draw up a loop, then insert hook into second stitch before finishing your decrease. This technique is great when working in rows or with mix of taller stitches. However, when it comes to amigurumi, the standard decrease becomes quite noticeable. Not only that but it also leaves larger gaps allowing the stuffing to show. To avoid this and make your decreases blend with the rest of the stitches, use the invisible decrease method: - Insert hook into front loop of the first stitch, and into front loop of the second stitch (3 loops on hook) yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over and pull through remaining two loops. #theknottyboss #crochetsecrets

Single Crochet Decrease Details ⬇️ sc dec means turning 2 single crochet stitches into one! I have also shown a comparison between sc and sc dec. 🧶In order to make a sc dec: Recognise the two adjoining stitches where you want to make a sc dec. we are calling them sc 1 and sc 2 1. Insert your hook in sc 1, pull up a loop, you have two loops on your hook. 2. Now, insert your hook in sc 2, pull up a loop, you now have three loops on your hook. 3. Yarn over, pull through all 3 loops. Your sc dec is ready This technique is used to reduce/decrease the number of single crochet (sc ) stitches in a row/round. It is usually used in patterns for amigurumi, wearables and wallet flaps. There are a number of methods to make a sc dec. Today I have shared a basic and beginner friendly method. It is also known as sc 2 together ( sc2tog). 🌸 I have used US terms. How to decrease when working single crochet stitches in the round. Here I am showing you the normal decrease vs the «invisible» decrease 😀 (not really invisible, but less noticeable) I usually use invisible decrease, except when the wrong side of work also needs to look good. Why? Because with the invisible decrease technique you only go through the front loops of the next 2 stitches, that means the back loops are left exposed on the wrong side. It makes the right side of work look better, but it also makes the wrong side of work look worse. But the invisible decrease technique is super helpful when the wrong side is not visible for example in amigurumi 😀 It took a few years before I saw someone post a video about this, and it has been a gamechanger! Did you know there are two ways to make a single crochet decrease in crochet? 👀 The invisible decrease is a great option when making amigurumi because it’s less bulky and less noticeable than a traditional decrease and it really helps eliminate large holes in your work while you’re closing up your piece! Give it a try if you haven’t already! 🧶 Its best not to use the invisible decrease when working in rows and it’s not possible to use it when you are crocheting in the back loops only. In those cases, just stick with a traditional decrease!

Welcome to another #JustATipTuesday - Today we’re talking invisible sc decrease, but not just any, in the back loops only! If you ever tried working an invisible decrease into back loops then you know how awkward it can be. The angle of the back loops makes it difficult to insert your hook into both stitches and virtually impossible to draw that hook through. In fact, most times I’d just default to a standard decrease and hope it wouldn’t be that visible…. it always was 😢 That was until I learned this simple trick that allows you to work a BLO invisible decrease, with ease! Instead of inserting your hook into 1st then 2nd stitch of the decrease, just reverse the order (see instructions below) It may sound a bit awkward but once you get the hang of it, it makes working a BLO inv-dec so much better! INSTRUCTIONS: Skip the 1st stitch and insert your hook into the back loop of the 2nd stitch in your decrease. Turn your work sideways (as shown) and insert the hook into back loop of the 1st stitch (turning your work sideways will make it easier to see the 1st stitch) then finish as you would a standard single crochet. If you’ve tried this technique before, let me know what you think of it, and if not you should give it a go! #theknottyboss #crochetsecrets #tiptuesday #crochet #tutorial
