Here’s exactly how we’d spend one day in the park—especially if you’re visiting without a timed entry reservation!
Arches is one of the few parks that requires a timed entry permit. If you don’t get one, you’ll need to enter before 7am or after 4pm—so plan accordingly!
There’s nowhere to grab food inside the park, so be sure to pack your own. If you leave to get food, you won’t be allowed back in.
6:00am – Enter the park before the reservation window
6:30am – Drive the full Scenic Drive
7:00am – Devil’s Garden Trailhead (Landscape Arch, Pine Tree Arch, Tunnel Arch)
10:00am – Sand Dune Arch
11:00am – Double Arch Trail
12:00pm – Windows + Turret Arch Loop
2:00pm – Wall Street
4:00pm – Arches Visitor Center
5:00pm – Park Sign Photo
6:00pm – Delicate Arch for sunset

SEHave you ever seen Delicate Arch in the snow? It was gorgeous.
Rain was threatening but we really wanted to get to this hike so we set out geared up. About a mile in it started but was snow, not rain and it was amazing.
The weather kept others away and we ended up alone on the trail for most of it.

It’s my favorite park in Utah! I’ve visited three times, and every trip I still don’t have enough time to see everything I want.
Here are a few things to know before visiting:
- great hikes to try: Delicate Arch, Park Avenue, Windows Trail, Double Arch, Devil’s Garden
- the Delicate Arch hike takes about 2–3 hours round trip, so plan extra time for driving and photos
- you need a timed entry permit during peak season (April-October)
- don’t underestimate the heat: summer temperatures often reach 100°F+ (38°C+)
- sunrise and sunset are the best times to visit for cooler temperatures and incredible light
