*NaOCl is the gold standard irrigating sol in RCT
It’s role is to dissolve the organic tissue (pulp and most of bacteria) .
*EDTA sol is a chelating agent,used to dissolve the inorganic tissue in the canal(smear layer ) and open the dentinal tubules to allow NaOCl to do its job in removing pulp remnants.
*CHX is another sol used in concentration of 2% ,mostly in rettt cases to kill E.faecalis that is responsible of failure
*Saline used between solutions to prevent interactions between NaOCl &CHX
It’s an immediate chemical reaction forming Orange-brown insoluble precipitate called (para-chloroaniline PCA) , it’s cytotoxic ,potentially carcinogenic, reducing sealing capacity of root filling and discolors dentin .
*No significant effect produced if don’t use saline betw EDTA and NaOCl .
