MEPeople with a learning disability want to work.
They want to contribute, earn their own money, build confidence and be part of their communities.
But too often, the support simply isn’t there to stay and thrive in work.
Many people are turned away before they’re even given a chance or feel unwelcome in working environments because they aren't given the reasonable adjustments they need.
Access to Work can be a lifeline. It helps fund the practical support and adjustments that make work possible from support workers, to accessible travel to specialist equipment that reduces anxiety and help people do their jobs well.
Mencap Engagement Connector Sara Pickard spoke to BBC Radio Wales about why Access to Work is so vital for people with a learning disability.
