So many requests for this trail after posting on my stories!! This gem is at the base of the Superstition Mountains, a little hidden desert oasis that is beautiful and diverse. 📍 Hackberry Springs. There are many trails and loops out in this area, so the miles can be anywhere from 3-6 ( or more) depending on what route you decide to take. Taking the Hackberry Loop will clock you in around 4 miles, rated moderate. Parking is free, and there are bathrooms at the trailhead. I love my plants, and I get it. When you’re on a farm and all you are trying to grow is fruit from these cacti, a few wounds won’t hurt anyone when there’s acres of it. But we love them first for their initial beauty outside of their flowers and fruit. We also don’t need to create a wound that could cause an infection. Do follow oneyoungkham_farm though. Fun times in a very large farm. They have shown many more videos of them cutting the fruit off the stems without damaging it. I’m sure she loves her plants too ❤️

Eat the edible invasives!!! Himalayan blackberry, also called Armenian blackberry, is an invasive plant native to Armenia and northern Iran. It was brought to North America in the late 1800s, where it quickly took over, forming dense, thorny thickets that outcompete native plants, block wildlife movement, and reduce biodiversity. This plant is also invasive to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and South America. Its seeds are located inside the big berries, so picking and eating them helps reduce the number seeds in the environment and prevents some new plants from growing from fallen fruit. So… eat them up, folks! Himalayan blackberry also spreads by branches (canes) touching down and rooting, so the most effective way to remove it is by cutting and digging out the root crown is the most effective way to control it. But I love them and am super excited that some are finally ripe! Hackberries have a thin layer of sweet flesh around a central nut/seed/thing! Some are easy to crönch all the way through, and some aren’t so try fruit from new trees carefully! I also love them ground up into lil one ingredient energy bars!! And I’m glad I found a tree with low branches that ISNT in an abandoned graveyard 😅🤣
