Learned about this latest uproar over another hair company causing hair loss and health problems from @strawberricurls post. If you don’t know me, I was the first to speak out loudly across all my platforms that DEVACURL was causing hair loss and health issues back in 2019. I was featured in a documentary called Not So Pretty on MAX a few years later, doing my own detective work to try and figure out what happened and encourage the company to issue a recall all while supporting tens of thousands of victims who were reaching out to me daily, desperate for help. In the United States, there is little legislation protecting consumers from toxic chemicals in hair products. The scalp is highly absorbent and a direct route to the blood stream. This is why hair care should be taken as seriously as anything you consume. California tries to protect its residents by requiring companies to put a Proposition 65 warning on their products if they contain certain toxic chemicals. Mielle “Organics” failed to do this for DEA which increases cancer risk. Learn about the ingredients in your products. Don’t use products that contain “fragrance” or any colors like Red 40 etc because these are secret concoctions of chemicals, little or loosely regulated. This is the only way to empower and protect ourselves as we hopefully fight for meaningful regulations.
