These are common discussions that we address with clients regularly in the salon. 1) #cutitkinky #rezo #devacut are all curly cutting techniques. The approach a stylists uses depends on their education, the hair bought to the salon and the clients desired result. 2)For tight curlies with hair above their shoulders learning to understand that length doesn’t live at the nape takes a lot of time to wrap your head and curls around. Length left at the nape for those above the shoulders creates an unintentional mullet and typically isn’t balanced or aesthetically pleasing. 3) We know that some of you may want to blow out your hair and that’s fine. But please don’t expect it to be this super perfect cohesive look. It’s not. But it’s not something that can be addressed with a little bit of creative cutting. Learned anything new about curly cuts? MY DIY HAIRCUT IN 3 STEPS 🌞 I get so many questions on my haircut so I thought I’d visualize follow me @curlysunza if you don’t wanna miss my DIY haircut tutorial that I’ll be sharing soon 🥰 ℹ️ Please note, I cut my hair myself and I am no professional. I cut my hair wet. I’ve been getting soo many requests on my haircut/to share my DIY haircut video - and your requests have been seen! I am just waiting for my hair to grow out a little more and for a free day - and then I’ll cut my hair (again) and record a tutorial of it. Storytime below as to why I didn’t post my DIY haircut video yet 🙄 MY HAIRCUT IN WORDS: ✅ For my base layer I choose a rounded U cut (gives a soft look) ✅ Before I go in with layering, I lift up my upper layers of hair to see how much hair I have left underneath ✅ This is like a guide so I don't cut in too many layers (to avoid sparse ends) ✅ I have medium density hair so cutting 2 layers works good for me ✅ For the highest layer (where the shortest hair is) I take only a small layer; just to give it that visible bounce STORYTIME: I know I already said earlier that I would cut my hair and record it.. and I did! 🙄 I recorded my haircut it back in July with my new camera, but I made a big mistake. I adjusted many settings on my camera ( which I didn’t know much about) .. and when I checked my footage at the end, the video was incredibly unsharp and full of noise (I had set the ISO values way too high as I found out later). It was a pain, but I think it happened for a reason. I had to correct my cut by quite a bit when it was dry, and I don't want you to have to do that. So for my next DIY cut I'll be prepared for it all 🥰 #longcurlyhair #haircut #DIYhaircut

That’s called closed to open. - [ ] Set a fingers length guide with the #1 guard lever open - [ ] Soften it doing the same lever method: closed to open - [ ] The line left over , clean it up with the #.5 guard closed to open - [ ] With the #2 lever open set the last guideline - [ ] Blend it completely using your 1.5guard aiming for those dark spots. To cut wet or not to cut wet……. That is NOT the question😁 The better question is if a wet cut right for you…. The curly hair community has become a toxic ass place😅Here’s the tea….. Demonizing different techniques could be closing you off to having a beautiful haircut that’s truly customized to your texture and lifestyle. One way of cutting may not be right for the next persons. What it really comes down to is a stylists understanding of texture. A wet cut is good for clients who have a more uniform pattern, those who like to straighten their hair(versatility), and or just want a more precise cut. There’s are other reasons but those are the main ones. We normally do a dry cut on her with some tension but it had been while and she had a lot of damage and breakage. She has a mostly uniform curl pattern. Cutting this way allowed me to get all the little pieces that were shrinking up towards her scalp. She looks fireeeee😍 I customized SLIGHTLY with a Rezo technique at the end. Curly cuts are not one size fits all. I use multiple techniques and sometimes bundle them together depending on who Is in my chair. Do you have to do this? Not necessarily, depends on the clientele you want to attract. If you don’t want to do personalized cuts for people who straighten their hair, don’t. There is someone out there for everyone but be open and understand why other techniques that you don’t do might work for someone else. comparing two different haircuts on my finer, lower density curls ✂️ Please note that I adore both of these haircuts and my stylists who did them. They provided me with great suggestions while also keeping in mind of what I wanted to help me achieve my desired haircut 🫶🏻 My previous haircut was a Rëzo Cut and my current haircut is the Cadō Cut. As someone who has been getting curly haircuts since 2018, I thought it would be interesting to show a side by side of both haircuts! Now that I’m five years into getting curly haircuts, I’ve narrowed it down to getting cuts that help encourage more volume, however, something that I wasn’t considering was my hair texture and density (@francesxbeauty has a great post on this). I have lower-density and finer hair, and sometimes with too many layers, my ends can start to thin out (as you can see in my previous haircut), and for my second haircut that I had done with a different stylist, I asked for a rounded look so the bottom can look fuller. What I also have to keep in mind is the trims to maintain the shape, the styling techniques (pixie diffusing), and that my hair will deflate so it’s not always voluminous as it appears!
