Devdas is consumed by regret and spirals into alcoholism and self-destruction, wandering through life with pain and guilt until he meets the kind-hearted courtesan Chandramukhi, who falls deeply in love with him and tries to help him heal, though Devdas remains emotionally trapped in his love for Paro.
