🌬️ DEV DIARY | VIVID | PART 12 – Bringing Wind to Life 🍃 We’ve just reached the halfway point of our backend systems – from events and biome settings to skills and metabolism sliders. That made it the perfect moment to shift some focus back to the visual side of VIVID. 🎮 Right now, we’ve implemented our first code-based wind animations. Using a system of multiple wind zones, we can control how individual leaves move across the plant. These zones dynamically react to in-game events – for example, an approaching storm will gradually increase the intensity of movement as it gets closer. 🌧️ Our next step is adding rigging and meshes to every part of the dandelion. This allows us to introduce “weight” to different plant elements, making movement feel more natural and visually convincing. It will also help us better communicate environmental effects like raindrops – and even the game’s fail state, when a plant can no longer survive. 🍂 We’re also very happy to welcome Felix to the team, who brings valuable expertise in rigging, meshes, and animation to support this next stage. 🤝 In the attached clip, you can already see two wind scenarios: a mild breeze and an incoming storm with stronger gusts.
