• This prehistoric underground spring is hidden inside a dry cave formed thousands of years ago. Sunlight streams through a hole in the ceiling, lighting up the crystal-clear 72°F water below. Fossils dating back to the Ice Age were discovered here, giving the spring its name “Devil’s Den.” Today, you can snorkel or scuba dive inside this ancient cave — and it truly feels like stepping into another world.
Hours: Daily 9AM–5PM

Located in Williston, Florida. About 2 hours from Orlando and 30 minutes from Gainesville.
Devil’s Den is a prehistoric spring with fossils found dating back to 33 million years ago!
Today you may snorkel or scuba at the spring! 🤿
The water temperature stays a crisp 72 degrees year round.
You must reserve an hour and a half time slot to go. I was lucky enough to actually have the spring all to myself for about thirty minutes! During this time since there wasn’t a bunch of people in the water, big fish and even some turtles came out 🐢.

On cold mornings, steam rises from the underground spring, thus giving it the name “Devil’s Den”. Reservations are required on their website!

This trail is definitely a favorite, especially for a Fall hike after the rain. There are caves and crevices and rock formations, along with my favorite section of the trail with a tall waterfall you walk underneath.

YODevil’s Den is a POPULAR destination for divers and snorkelers in Williston, Florida. It is 2 hours from Tampa and the water is 72 degrees all year around. I thought that was warm but I was cold the entire time so mentally prepare yourself lol.
The view is beautiful and you can see plenty of fish. Add this to your list but please make a reservation! And try to go on a week day, it gets crowded quickly.

LUDevil's Den is a prehistoric spring located in the small, unassuming town of Williston, beckoning the curious who are willing to don snorkel or dive gear and venture into the chilly 72-degree portal into the underworld cave cenote.
Devil's Den was formed 10,000 years ago from a geomorphic event called a karst window. At one point, the carbonate bedrock that formed the roof over the Devil's Den dissolved into a sinkhole and revealed the subterranean river.
Caves, ancient rock formations with stalactites, and fossil beds (some fossils date as far back as 2 million years ago!) fill the crystal blue
sinkhole. A steep flight of stairs leads to the water which ranges in depth from 8 - 200 feet, and free-swimming without snorkel gear is not permitted.
There is an opening at the top of the cave that lets in a natural beam of light, illuminating most of the cave.
