Artstrek 2025: Find Unexpected Connections “Somewhere in the middle of nowhere”… is Artstrek! Theatre Alberta is excited to return to Red Deer Polytechnic for Artstrek 2025 and celebrate its 65th anniversary! Artstrek is a summer theatre school for teens that provides professional learning with theatre artists and educators in a collaborative environment. Artstrek has more than 10,000 alumni working across Alberta, Canada, and the world. Artstrek students explore the creative process through five daily classes that include the study of acting, movement, voice, devising, design, directing, and dramaturgy. All of these classes take inspiration from a single play of study—this year’s play is the hit Canadian musical based on the remarkable true story Come From Away by Irene Sankoff and David Hein. Theatre Alberta thanks Music Theatre International for the special opportunity to study the musical in our unique learning environment, given that we study but do not perform plays and musicals at Artstrek. Albertan teens are invited to explore the unexpected with this amazing Canadian musical based on the actual events that took place on September 11, 2001, and the days that followed in Gander, Newfoundland. 38 planes with 6,579 passengers and crew landed in Gander, a town of 10,000 people. Come From Away is an inspiring and heartwarming ensemble musical that honours what was lost on 9/11 but also commemorates what was found — lifelong friendships and strong global connections. A teenage boy’s bedroom should be a space that reflects his personality, provides personal space and offers comfort. Here are some ideas to create a stylish and functional teen boy’s bedroom: When creating this bedroom I involved my 13 year old son in the entire process. After all it is his bedroom and should reflect his taste. He decided on the color scheme with gray as the neutral and green his favorite color as the pop of color to brighten his space. He opted for shelving to display items that he loves but in an aesthetically pleasing way. He wanted a dog, but settled on fish 😂 . I was able to find cool fish tanks to hang among his shelving. He chose both his light fixture & lamp. We brought in some color, texture and comfort with throw pillows, throw blanket & an area rug. If he ever gets tired of green or wants a change by switching out these items we will be able to create a whole new vibe without breaking the bank. My son’s absolute favorite part of this room is his couch/ gaming area. For a long time he was sharing a TV and gaming console with his younger brother. They were constantly fighting over what they wanted to watch and whose turn it was to play video games. Having his own private space, his own couch and TV has brought him much joy and given him the opportunity to relax and unwind how he would like. Although I would like him to hang artwork on the walls to the right of the bedroom something that I feel would really elevate and complete his space he is finding it difficult to decide on something that reflects his personality and interests. So I am patiently waiting, lol.
