JU🎲 I introduced my students to “Dice War” this week to work on comparing numbers. This game is similar to the traditional card game of War, but it’s played with dice!
🎲 Each partner rolls a die, then students compare their numbers by saying “_____ is greater than _____.” Whoever has the greater number gets a point by adding a mini eraser to their ten frame. First player to fill their ten frame, wins!
(You could also play where the students get a point for having the number that is less, instead of greater.)

Take turns to turn a card over, whoever has the highest number scores a point! Keep a tally score and the player who scores the most points in 10 rounds wins the game!

Turn over 3 cards, add them together and in the same way as the video, the player who has the highest total scores a point!
✨ Card and dice games are AMAZING ways to build fluency in maths, develop reasoning and problem solving skills as well as build up a repertoire of number facts for your child ✨

KADice games are a huge hit!! Students can play as a whole class, with a partner, or on their own! There are several ways to play, but the easiest is to roll a dice and color that many!

ATThese dice games are low prep and super fun! They are a great way to practice subitizing, number recognition, and visual discrimination. These games can be played alone or with a partner. I recommend playing in 1 of 3 ways!
Game 1: Turn Taking
-Players will choose a mat. Each player will take the number of dice needed for their mat. So if playing the 3 games each player would take 3 dice. They then take turns rolling. If they get a number on their mat they cover it. The first to cover all numbers wins.
Game 2: RACE mode
-Players will choose a mat. Each player will take the number of dice needed for their mat. So if playing the 3 games each player would take 3 dice. They then roll as fast as they can, not worrying about the other person. If they get a number on their mat they cover it. The first to cover all numbers wins.
Game 3: Free For All!
-Players will choose a mat. Each player will take the number of dice needed for their mat. So if playing the 3 games each player would take 3 dice. But THEN they take turns rolling ALL the dice. So to start 1 player would roll 6 dice. If they get a number on their mat they cover it. If both need a number that is rolled, the first person to get the dice gets it. The first to cover all numbers wins.
15 themes included!! Each theme has:
-6 mixed number game mats for 3 dice
-6 mixed number game mats for 4 dice
-6 mixed number game mats for 5 dice
-The same mats for all of the above but with a number focus (all 1s, 2s, 3s, etc)
