LIAs we head into a new school year, I keep thinking about the kind of classrooms—and kids—we hope to see: places where kindness leads, curiosity is welcomed, and differences are respected.
She loves this book—not just because it’s a great story, but because it talks openly about disability, kindness, and what it means to be included.
As a blind child, she notices when stories reflect differences. Representation matters. Kids deserve to see themselves—and others—on the page.
A gentle reminder we try to teach: it’s okay to be curious. It’s okay to ask respectful questions. What’s not okay is staring or making someone feel “other.”
Kindness looks like learning, listening, and including everyone at the table.
Different doesn’t mean less. 💙
