GLA couple from Yancheng were surprised when their daughter, Guojiang, started to look different as she grew. She was born in May 2022 and at first looked like a typical Chinese baby. But after a few months, her appearance began to change.
Around eight months old, her eyes slowly turned blue. By the time she was one year old, her hair became curly and golden blonde. She also developed features that looked more Western. This made her parents confused and concerned. They even wondered if there had been a mix-up at the hospital.
To confirm, they carried out several DNA tests. The results showed that Guojiang was truly their biological child. This reassured them, but they still wanted to understand the reason behind her unique appearance.
Later, the family looked into their history and found an explanation. They discovered that the girl’s great-great-grandfather on her father’s side was Russian. He had married a woman from Henan and lived in China many years ago.
Experts explained that certain physical traits, like blonde hair and blue eyes, can stay hidden in genes for many generations. Sometimes, these traits can appear again unexpectedly, as seen in Guojiang’s case.
This story shows how genetics can work in surprising ways, revealing family history even after many years.
