Finn is an 8-week-old Cocker with a determination to get things done 😆
He’s bold, driven, and already showing signs of independence.
That’s a great thing—but it’s also something we have to shape early so it doesn’t turn into a mindset that limits how we can work with him down the road.
So when do we start training?
Right now.
I’m a big believer that the earlier you start with a pup, the easier it is to build the dog you want long-term.
We brought Finn home at 7 weeks, and he came to us well-socialized and confident. That gave us the green light to jump straight into a fun, fast few days of building a relationship.
As he’s gotten more comfortable, he’s also started testing boundaries—like every good pup will.
That’s our cue… it’s time to start tightening things up.
Food training is where it begins.
This is the foundation where Finn learns:
• Our relationship and roles
• How to earn reward and praise
• How to avoid pressure
• Early commands
• Problem-solving
And most importantly—how to work with us.
This stage sets the tone for everything that follows.
