I know - there are plenty being pushed (even sold)! Skip them. Same goes for girls, but this post is specifically about guys…
Those lists don’t know his dorm room layout, what’s already provided, what is prohibited or restricted, where the bathroom or laundry facilities are, or what he needs or doesn’t need to be comfortable.
I’m a boy mom who has helped thousands of other moms figure this out because most guys? They’re just not that into dorm prep.
Why? Here’s a little secret - it could very well be a defense mechanism. Avoiding the realities of moving away from home may be their way to combat the nervousness that comes with this big change ahead.
Our followers have been asking me for YEARS to create a guide just for guys, and I finally just hit publish.

What their sons used most
What barely got touched (hello cleaning supplies & first aid kits)

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all checklist - because that doesn’t exist. But it will help you build the right one just for him.
Start with the 9 essentials almost everyone needs, then layer in what he might want… and what to skip (at least before move-in).
