Drilling rigs such as this one in the North Sea use computer-coordinated thrusters to keep the oil rig stable even when the floating drilling rig is moving up and down because of wave action or tidal changes. The Transocean Enabler, managed by Norwegian company Northern Lights, drills injection wells to store CO2 more than a mile below sea level. The pipelines coming from Northern Lights’ onshore terminal in Øygarden will pump CO2 directly into the well, where, kept at its liquid state by controlled pressure and temperature, the CO2 will be injected into the subsea reservoir.
