I’m all about simple but effective enhancements that really focus in on what you want the children to develop while being lots of fun and this is a perfect example of that! ⭐️ We are always looking for ways to get those little hands working and what better way than tying it in with our theme and creating a car wash 🚙🧼 We have this small scale one indoors and a larger one outdoors (post coming this week 🚩) and it was very well loved today! 👏🏻 Just some cars, soapy water, shaving foam and items to clean with and you’ll have them engaged all day; as well as some very clean toy cars as well! 🧽👩🏼‍🏫🚗💫 #eyfs #earlyyears #tufftray #eyfsinspiration #finemotor

Why do children walk on the line? In a Montessori nursery, it’s not just play-it’s purpose. That little line becomes a path of concentration, balance, coordination and self-control. ✨ What looks simple… is actually powerful learning in motion. #arborescencemontessori . . . . . #MontessoriLife #MontessoriNursery #ChildLedLearning #EarlyYears

Preschool art doesn’t need to be perfect to be meaningful. When we stop focusing on the final product and start valuing the process, something shifts for children. Adding a photo of them during the making, a simple title, or a few visual prompts turns their artwork into a memory — not a performance. It tells them: “What you did matters.” This is especially powerful for young children still developing language, confidence and fine motor skills. It’s not about the destination. It’s about the journey. 🤍 Save this if you needed the reminder. #processart #earlyyears #preschoollearning #playbasedlearning #preschool

Finnish children rank #1 in literacy, wellbeing, and happiness. And it’s not because they start school earlier. They don’t touch a textbook until age seven. No formal reading lessons. No standardised tests. Instead? They play. A lot. While many of us are pushing flashcards and worrying our four-year-olds are “behind”, Finnish children spend their early years exploring, building, imagining, and learning through hands-on play. By age 15, they outperform most of the world in reading, maths, and science — with lower anxiety and higher happiness. Here’s why 👇 The prefrontal cortex isn’t ready for abstract learning until around 6–7 years old. Starting academics later supports creativity, problem-solving, and a genuine love of learning. Children who learn to read at 5 perform the same as those who learn at 7 by age 11. So the early push gives no long-term advantage — just more pressure. If your child would rather build with blocks than practise letters, they’re not behind. They’re building skills that actually last. Slow down to speed up. The smartest children aren’t raised through pressure — they’re grown through patience. If you’ve been here a while you’ll know how much we love the pure magic of this parent win ✨ once you get into the groove of prepping a 5 minute activity the evening before, you’ll never go back. This was never about creating more work for myself, it was about working smarter by setting up something so simple it takes just a few minutes (and usually uses what you already have at home!) When she started waking up to a ready to go activity, mornings started to feel calm instead of stressful, we prioritised connection instead of rushing and I get to drink my cup of coffee whilst it’s still hot ☕️ this is a small evening habit that can truly transform your mornings. Let this be your sign to give this a try tonight! Spend just a few minutes setting up something super simple using stuff you already have at home and enjoy a slow and intentional start to your day tomorrow ❤️ Comment PLAY and we’ll send you the link to nearly 600 low prep, simple and inexpensive play ideas for baby, toddler, preschooler and beyond all in one place! Save your favourite activities to your personal favourites area to save time scrolling and spend more time playing, learning and having fun! 🎨 #intentionalparenting #earlyyears #toddlermum #everydayplay

🐧 Ice Skating Penguins – this is always the best fun! We froze some penguin toys in silicone cupcake cases (but you could use any children’s small toys or even laminated penguins on lolly sticks). Add a slope, some water, pipettes and spray bottles, and let the fun begin! Children explored how the ice slid down the ramps at different speeds, experimented with spraying and dripping water, and watched how this changed the speed and melting process. Lots of excitement, curiosity and brilliant thinking as they worked out how to make them race and how to free the penguins. Learning opportunities: • Fine motor development (pipettes & spray bottles) • Cause and effect • Exploring speed, slope and movement • Early scientific thinking • Problem solving • Sensory exploration ❄️🐧 A super book to share with this is ‘Super Duper Penguin Slide’ by @leonielord @walkerbooksuk see my stories 🐧❄️🥰 Penguins and polar animals available from @ypoinfo Tuff tray @cosydirect Resin bowl and ice tray @not.so.tuff.trays Pipet @learningresourcesuk #earlyyears #eyfsactivities #eyfsplay #tufftrayideas #winterplay

Turn your literacy block into a movement moment👏👏👏 This Read the Room activity builds: – phonemic awareness – decoding skills – purposeful movement (not chaos 😉) – independence – confidence All while students are moving around the classroom with purpose. It’s explicit skill practice… delivered in a way that honours little bodies. That balance matters, doesn’t it?? Comment “READ” and I’ll send you the links. Kindergarten students aren’t meant to sit for long stretches. When we honour how they learn best, engagement skyrockets. Structured. Playful. Intentional. Save this for your next literacy block, or share with your teacher friends who NEED this idea✨ ❤️Jen {Just quietly, I hope Monday was all you needed it to be. If it wasn’t, Tuesday is just around the corner. Thinking of you all, doing a job that isn’t easy, but makes such a huge difference to our world xx} #kindergarten #earlyyears #australianteachers #playbasedlearning #teacherspayteachers
