GR1. Earthly wealth is temporary
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.”
— Matthew 6:19
Earthly wealth can disappear, break, or lose value. God reminds us not to build our identity or security on it.
2. Wealth itself is not sinful — attachment is the danger
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.”
— 1 Timothy 6:10
Notice it doesn’t say money is evil — loving it, clinging to it, or letting it rule you is where problems begin.
3. God cares more about your heart than your bank account
“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
— Matthew 6:21
This is the core question:
Is money your tool — or your master?
4. God provides, but asks for trust
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life… But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
— Matthew 6:25, 33
God isn’t saying “ignore responsibility.”
He’s saying don’t let fear and money anxiety run your life.
5. Wealth is meant to be stewarded, not hoarded
“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth… but to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.”
— 1 Timothy 6:17–18
If you have resources, God sees them as tools for good, not proof of worth.
6. Eternal wealth > Earthly wealth
“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?”
— Mark 8:36
Success without peace, integrity, or love is ultimately empty.
