Not every deal falls apart because of price. This one almost died because of trust. The offer was already on the table at 750k. The seller hinted that 800k was closer to where they needed to be. That gap can be worked through. The real issue was something else. His wife did not want to sell. There was stress, bills, and uncertainty. And on top of that, we were just another voice on the phone. That is a tough position to negotiate from. So instead of pushing numbers, the focus shifted to credibility. Not “trust me.” Not “we’re legit.” Actual proof. Offering to show up in person. Bringing bank statements. Showing properties owned in the area. Putting a real face behind the offer. Because sometimes the deal is not about convincing someone to sell. It is about making them feel comfortable enough to even consider it. Once that changed, everything opened up. The conversation moved from hesitation to maybe. From maybe to discussing 800k. From there to setting a time to meet in person. That is how real deals move forward. Not just numbers.
