Too often, development focuses on buildings. But places aren’t defined by architecture alone. They’re defined by the people, relationships, and culture that live within them. The essence of regenerative placemaking isn’t just designing better spaces. It’s nurturing the spirit of the community those spaces serve. When people feel connected, supported, and proud of where they live, places begin to regenerate from the inside out. If this resonates, follow me at @_tonycho_ for more ideas on regenerative placemaking and the future of our cities.

Big news: From a balcony to a 12 hectare land 🌿💚Six years ago, I was planting vegetables in containers on my balcony. Today, a completely new chapter begins: regenerating 12 hectares of land in Sicily. What started as a small urban city garden slowly became a passion, then a lifestyle, and now a full farming and land regeneration project. This journey is also about something deeper: leaving the big city life to reconnect with the land and nature with my family and my 3 year old son. From balcony gardening in the city to building a life in the countryside, this project will be about learning, experimenting, and creating something meaningful for the present & future. On this land we will plant a vegetable garden, an orchard, a Mediterranean aromatic herb garden, and an olive grove, while caring for the beautiful olive and carob trees already growing here. But the project goes far beyond planting. We will explore regenerative agriculture, soil restoration, water management systems, composting cycles, and biodiversity restoration to help this land become fertile and resilient again. This journey will also involve off-grid living, DIY constructions, and renovating an old countryside house, creating a place that respects nature and the surrounding ecosystem. I recently passed the exam to become a registered farmer, but that does not make me a good farmer yet. From 20 square meters to 12 hectares, I will have to learn everything again. I am incredibly excited, a little scared, and deeply grateful to start this new adventure. This is not just a garden anymore. It is a life project. And I cannot wait to share every step of the journey with you. Green Love to you 💚💚💚 Follow the journey

For more than 10,000 years, humans lived in villages. Long before modern cities existed, people organized themselves in small, interconnected communities where life, work, learning, and culture happened together. Food was grown locally, knowledge was passed between generations, and daily life was supported by strong social bonds. These early villages were not just places to live, they were ecosystems of cooperation. People shared tools, built homes together, raised children collectively, and created systems of mutual support. Community was the foundation of resilience🔥 As civilizations evolved, cities emerged. They brought incredible advances: trade, culture, technology, and opportunity. But modern urban life also introduced a new pattern: millions of people living side by side, yet often disconnected. Private apartments replaced shared courtyards. Work moved away from home. Neighbors became strangers. Today, many people are beginning to question this model. Around the world, a new wave of intentional communities is emerging. Communities where people can still have their own homes and autonomy, while benefiting from shared spaces, collaboration, and meaningful relationships. This is the idea behind the Amagi model. Amagi is building the modern villages: regenerative habitats where architecture, land, and social systems support both individual freedom and collective life. A place where people can live closer to nature, connect with others, create meaningful work, and grow together. Join the growing Amagi community in Koh Phangan, Thailand , and be part of shaping a new way of living. 🌿 Comment “Amagi” and we will share with you how to join 🧚‍♀️

I heard recently “everyone wants to live in a village, but no one wants to be a villager”. But I really believe most of our modern day problems could be softened, maybe even solved, through community living and rural land sharing. We’ve built lives that look successful on paper but feel strangely isolating in reality. But humans were never designed to do life alone. we were meant to share land. share tools. share meals. share childminding. share the mental load. Kids grow up with a village. Adults have other adults to lean on. Food is grown closer to home. Your carbon footprint shrinks because you’re consuming locally and sharing surplus. Permaculture isn’t just about gardens. It’s about designing human systems that actually work. Care for the earth. Care for people. Fair share. I think we’ve been chasing scale and status, when what actually makes us feel safe and supported is proximity and connection. Where you feel safe to call on a favour. Where you know there’s always a helping hand around the corner.

Community can increase your lifespan by up to 50%. Not through medicine. Through belonging. Loneliness has become one of the most serious public health challenges of our time. Yet most of the places we build today — cities, neighborhoods, buildings — are designed for isolation, not connection. Regenerative living asks a different question: How do we design places where people naturally gather, share meals, know their neighbors, and support one another? Because the future of health isn’t just medical. It’s social. When we regenerate place, we regenerate community. And when community thrives, people do too. Follow for more ideas on regenerative living and placemaking.

Lega Vera begins with land — more than 300 hectares of old forest, grassy plains, and sweeping views waiting to be shared with our future neighbors. But the land is only the canvas. Our vision is a thriving community of passionate, healthy, and fulfilled people living close to nature — a modern blue zone shaped by the people who call it home. Just as we did with Coquira, together we’ll build an ecosystem of spaces, crafts, and village businesses that serve the entire community.

I Left City Life to Start a 12 Hectare Farm in Sicily 🌿💚 Six years ago I started gardening on a small balcony. Today, a completely new chapter begins. We decided to leave the city life to start a new life in the countryside of Sicily. In this 20 minute video (link in my bio) I give you a full tour of the 12 hectares of land I just bought in Sicily, where I will begin a long journey of regenerative farming, soil restoration, and sustainable living. This project is about much more than growing food. The vision is to transform this land into a living ecosystem where biodiversity, healthy soil and sustainable agriculture work together. On this land we will create:🌱A vegetable garden🌱A Mediterranean fruit orchard🌱An olive grove🌱An aromatic herb garden🌱Composting and soil regeneration systems 🌱Water management and sustainable irrigation🌱Wildlife and biodiversity zones This project will also involve off-grid experiments, DIY constructions, and renovating a countryside house, while learning how to live closer to nature. From 20 square meters on a balcony to 12 hectares in Sicily, that’s quite a huge change. I successfully passed my exam to be a registered farmer but that does not make me a good farmer. I have everything to learn again and on a bigger scale. In this video you will discover:💚The landscape and natural features of the land💚Existing olive and carob trees💚Future locations for the vegetable garden and orchard💚Plans for regenerative agriculture and biodiversity 💚And discover the natural canyon called “Cava” This is the beginning of a long journey, and I’m excited to share every step of it with you. If you enjoy gardening, sustainable living, regenerative agriculture, or countryside life, this project might inspire you too. Green Love to you! And to support my project, don’t forget to subscribe, like and share this video. This video of the land is the first of a long series of videos to come! 🥰

We often treat health like a personal responsibility. Eat better. Exercise more. Try harder. But the truth is, our cities shape our health every day. When neighborhoods are walkable…when nature is accessible…when public spaces invite people to gather… Healthy behavior happens naturally. The problem is that many modern cities were designed for cars, speed, and isolation. Not for human wellbeing or connection. This is where regenerative placemaking comes in: designing places that restore people, strengthen community, and reconnect us with nature. Because truly healthy cities don’t just grow. They help people thrive together. Follow for more ideas on regenerative cities and community design.
