WH“Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” Art Department Diary Part 29. It cannot be overstated how incredibly cool this job was, I talked before about being star struck by a building when I got to visit Hook and Ladder in New York and the same can be said the first time I laid my eyes on Ecto 1. There’s something so iconic about this car, and everyone’s excitement when it turned up was palpable. It had taken a few heavy knocks from the filming of Afterlife. The Gunners seat door had actually buckled the rear panels and the interior was in pieces. But our fantastic action vehicles department did a great job, removing the scenic rust, and re-chroming the whole vehicle, adding the red stripe down the side of the bonnet was a nice touch and rebuilding the roof rack to take the drone. Ketan Waikar @crazyhorsesnapper did an awesome job as art director in charge and got the car looking great. Being able to stand on the set that you designed and built and watching that car come screaming out of the firehouse is an experience I’ll never forget. I had to get that perfect angle and try and match the 84 original. What do you think? Did I mail it?
