SCFinally, parents have a legal way out of #EdTech.
The Federal Trade Commission filed an Amicus Brief stating the schools cannot consent - and have never had the authority to consent - on behalf of parents for companies to collect a child’s data.
Parents have to give informed, voluntary consent for their child’s use of each and every EdTech app and product before using at school. This consent needs to include what the tool collects about your child and how that information is used.
If this is not happening at your school, please direct them to the FTC Amicus Brief (link in bio). Schools need to get on board or they can be sued by the EdTech companies and the parents.
