🐶 Benefits of eggs shells in dog food.
1. Calcium Source
• Eggshells are rich in calcium carbonate, which helps support bone strength, teeth, muscle function, and nerve signaling.
• Dogs on homemade or raw diets often need extra calcium to balance out phosphorus from meat. Without enough calcium, they can develop weak bones or skeletal issues.
2. Joint & Bone Health
• Eggshell membrane (the thin layer inside the shell) also contains collagen, glucosamine, and chondroitin, which can support joint health.
I also sprinkle them over my garden. But I don’t blitz as fine as they make a great pest deterrent when sharp and crunchy.
🌱 Benefits of eggshells in the garden
1. Calcium Boost
• Calcium strengthens plant cell walls, prevents issues like blossom end rot in tomatoes, peppers, and squash, and supports overall growth.
2. Soil Health
• Crushed eggshells slowly break down, improving soil structure and balancing acidity (though they’re much gentler than lime).

Whether from 🐓 , quail, or ducks🦆, eggs are nature’s nutrition powerhouse! When sourcing the perfect longevity snack for your dog, the humble egg should be at the top of your list!
The fastest method, obviously, is to offer them raw… this is how animals have been eating eggs for millennia. However, according to science, in eggs, a protein🧬 in the egg whites called avidin binds to biotin, making it unavailable for the body to use.
Biotin is an important nutrient used in fat & sugar metabolism. It’s also known as vitamin B7, or vitamin H. However, when eggs are lightly cooked, the low heat causes structural changes to avidin, making it less effective at binding to biotin. This makes biotin easier to absorb!
Pertaining to you, research found that the human body could use 91% of the protein in cooked eggs, compared to only 51% in raw eggs. BUT...heat is a double edge sword! Although cooking eggs makes some nutrients more digestible, it can damage other vitamins, antioxidants and delicate fats.
Soft boiled is the ultimate way to cook an egg (this is when you boil an egg, but it’s still a little runny and the yolk is definitely not hard). This way, all of the good stuff in the egg yolk is maximally preserved while the whites are cooked enough for best protein utilization and removal of avidin.
Instructions for soft boiling:
Fill a medium pot with water and heat to a gentle simmer, just below boiling. Using a slotted spoon, carefully lower the eggs into the water and let simmer for 7 minutes (6 minutes for a runnier egg).
