EXThe iconic Eisbach standing wave vanished in October 2025 after the annual cleanup of the riverbed and so far it hasn’t reliably come back. Surfers and visitors were surprised that the wave didn’t form again as it normally does.
Temporary fixes have been removed by the city authorities.

Munich’s iconic Eisbach wave vanished after a city “safety upgrade” following a fatal accident.
Local river lords, who’ve quietly maintained the wave for decades, snuck in at night and rebuilt it with a plank, risking a €50K fine to prove it still works.
Now, instead of letting them fix it, officials want to hire engineers and hold meetings. The city promotes the Eisbach as a tourist attraction, while stopping the very thing tourists come to see.

🚨New safety rules are now in effect:
🕖Surfing only between 5:30 AM and 10:00 PM
🔓Mandatory: Self-releasing leash!

👯♀️ Always surf with a buddy on land
