Patrick P. our Electrical Pre-apprenticeship student at the BuildStrong Academy of Houston (powered by HBI) gave us a hands-on demonstration of electrical wiring, and the process of installing an electrical outlet and switch. In our electrical pre-apprenticeship program, students learn foundational skills and knowledge essential for success in the electrical trade. This includes fundamental concepts of electricity, circuitry, and electrical systems. They gain hands-on experience working with various tools and equipment used in the field, such as wire strippers, pliers, and multimeters. Students also study safety protocols and regulations to ensure they understand how to work safely in potentially hazardous environments. Through a combination of classroom instruction and practical training, students develop the necessary skills and confidence to pursue entry-level positions in the electrical industry or continue their education through an apprenticeship program. Start on your journey to becoming a pre-apprenticeship electrical or carpentry graduate today. Our 9-week full-time (M-F: 8am to 4pm) pre-apprenticeship program in electrical or carpentry is Tuition free! Free job placement assistance offered to all our graduates. We are currently enrolling students for our next Carpentry Pre-Apprenticeship program cohort scheduled to begin on Monday, April 15, 2024 and for our next Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship program cohort scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 29, 2024. We are located at: BuildStrong Academy of Houston 10631 HARWIN DR STE 606 HOUSTON, TX 77036 To sign up or for more information please visit us at: https://hbi.org/buildstrong-houston-2-2/ #BuildStrong #building #buildingcareers #changinglives #hbi #home #builders #homebuildersinstitute #Houston #Texas #electrical #carpentry #preapprenticeship #freetraining #workforce #workforcedevelopment #employment #BuildStrong #academy #buildstrongacademy

Ai will NOT replace electrical engineers โ€” and hereโ€™s why โšก๏ธ I have 20+ years of electrical engineering experience and 10 years teaching at the university level, I can tell you this with confidence: Electrical engineering is still deeply hands-on. Youโ€™re in labs. At the bench. Testing, building, breaking, troubleshooting. Going back and forth between design โ†’ test โ†’ fix โ†’ repeat. Real talk: If a circuit board is burning in the labโ€ฆ AI canโ€™t smell that yet. You need human intuition. You need trained hands. You need fundamentals, preparation, and experience. Your coursework matters. Your problem-solving skills matter. Your ability to think and troubleshoot in real time matters. So donโ€™t let fear-based AI headlines intimidate you. Keep learning. Keep building. Keep working hard. Engineers who understand the fundamentals and can work hands-on will always be irreplaceable. Make sure you follow for more electrical engineering advice! Three ways to become an electrician: Apprenticeship program: Train for 4-5 years under a licensed electrician, combining hands-on work with classroom education. Apprenticeships teach you everything from electrical theory to safety practices, preparing you for a professional license. Trades School: Attend a trade or technical school for 1-2 years to learn the fundamentals of electrical work, including wiring, circuits, and codes. After completing the program, youโ€™ll gain the skills needed to start working as an electrician. Direct work experience: Begin as an electrical helper or laborer, gaining practical experience while learning from more experienced electricians. Over time, take courses and pass exams to become licensed and qualified to work independently. #electricianlifeโšก๏ธ #sparkylifeโšก๏ธ #electrical #construction #electricians #electrician #electricaltips #tutorial #howto #trades #electricalstartups

Stop studying theory. Start learning tools. 1. Electrical engineering is too broad to โ€œjust learnโ€. Thereโ€™s power systems, MEP, controls, electronics, telecom, signals, computer engineering. If you try to learn all of it, you can spend years studying and still be totally unprepared for an actual job. The first step to becoming a better engineer is picking one field and committing to learning the specific skills for that job. 2. Pick your field based on what you actually want to do day-to-day. Want to design buildings? Thatโ€™s MEP. Want to design chips? Thatโ€™s semiconductors. Donโ€™t pick based on what sounds impressive. Pick based on what you want your actual workday to look like because that determines what skills you need to learn. 3. Learn the tools for that specific field. For MEP, thatโ€™s Revit and single line diagrams. For semiconductors, its circuit design, and PCB layout. PCB layout will not help you at all in MEP. Revit wont make you stand out in semiconductors. 4. Stop trying to be good at everything. The engineers who get hired fastest are the ones who can walk into an interview and talk about real projects theyโ€™ve worked on. Not coursework. Not blinking LEDs on Arduino. Real design work using the actual tools firms use everyday. Thatโ€™s what separates you from every other grad with the same degree. 5. If youโ€™re serious about learning, follow my page. Iโ€™m a licensed PE who went from unemployed grad to leading $100M+ projects in under 5 years. Iโ€™ll show you exactly what to learn, what tools to use, and how to build a portfolio that gets you hired. All the things I wish I had when I was starting out. ๐Ÿ‘‰ DM โ€˜Revitโ€™ to learn the skills engineering firms are hiring for right now #electrical #engineering #student

๐Ÿงฐ Industrial Automation & Education ๐Ÿ”ธ๏ธI hear a lot of stories about companies hiring recent graduates who haven't been prepared to tackle real-world challenges. ๐Ÿ”ธ๏ธThat's unacceptable. That's the point of education. ๐Ÿ”ธ๏ธNow, to be fair, every company has their own secret sauce they expect every teacher to know and solely focus on... at the expense of all other relevant topics. It can be tough for teachers to strike the right balance of value. ๐Ÿ”ธ๏ธStill, there are core principles that translate well throughout Industrial Automation. Students should know how to: -Read an electrical schematic -Strip and terminate wire -Drill and tap a hole -Cut and mount wire duct -Lockout/Tagout a panel -Use a multimeter -Power a sensor from a datasheet -Parameterize a VFD -Connect to a PLC ๐Ÿ”ธ๏ธEvery #Mechatronics and automation-related #Engineering graduate should know these fundamentals before applying to their first job. ๐Ÿ”ธ๏ธ"But why should I drill holes in steel if I'm only going to draw backplates in CAD? The holes are going to be waterjetted anyway!" ๐Ÿ”ธ๏ธ"Why should I know how to parameterize a VFD? That's the tech's job!" ๐Ÿ”ธ๏ธEmbrace every chance to get close to the source of your discipline. You want to immerse yourself in the reality you plan to create. There is no crisp divide between "thinking" and "doing." It is a vast and turbulent ocean. ๐Ÿ”ธ๏ธIf your role is to design something, learn how to build it. If you build something, strive to understand why it was designed that way. By the way, check out @croweboysband they're amazing. #workforce #manufacturing #education @cvcc.va @sick_sensor_intelligence
