🔬 Detailed Explanation (Static Electricity Experiment):
When an inflated balloon is rubbed on dry hair, a phenomenon called charging by friction occurs. During rubbing, electrons move from the hair to the balloon, making the balloon negatively charged and the hair positively charged.
The plaster of Paris ceiling is electrically neutral. However, when the charged balloon is brought close to it, the charges inside the ceiling rearrange due to electrostatic induction. Positive charges shift closer to the balloon, while negative charges move slightly away. This creates an electrostatic force of attraction, causing the balloon to stick to the ceiling without any tape or glue.
The balloon remains stuck until the electric charge slowly leaks into the air.
