Most students think they’re “bad at studying” when in reality… they were just taught the wrong habits. Let’s break these down 👇 1. Staying up past 11pm I know it feels productive. But after ~11pm, your brain is biologically worse at encoding new information. You’re rereading, zoning out, and stealing from tomorrow’s memory by sacrificing sleep. If you don’t remember it the next day, this is why. 2. Rereading the textbook This is the biggest illusion. Familiarity feels like understanding, but recognition ≠ recall. Your brain gets good at seeing the words, not pulling the ideas out on its own during an exam. 3. Highlighting notes Highlighting feels organized, not effective. It’s a passive task, which means your brain isn’t being forced to retrieve, struggle, or decide what actually matters. Pretty notes don’t create strong memory pathways. 4. Studying with your phone nearby Whether your phone is face-up or on silent, your brain is still allocating attention to the possibility of a notification. That constant background distraction lowers focus and slows learning way more than people realize. 5. Watching YouTube videos Videos make things feel clear while you’re watching. But clarity from someone else explaining ≠ you being able to explain it yourself. If you haven’t paused and tried to recall or solve it alone, you won’t remember most of it. Study tips that ACTUALLY work incorporate both active recall and metacognition, such as the 20-70-10 Review System and The 3-Layer Build that I explained in past videos… If you want the exact study strategies I use at Harvard to remember more in less time, comment STUDY and I’ll send them to you 🧠 #UltimateIvyLeagueGuide #UltimateMentor #UILG

👉🏻THE MUSCLE MEMORY METHOD For: Formulas, equations, reactions Write the same formula/equation 15 times WHILE saying it aloud Hand movement + verbal repetition = dual encoding Your hand will “remember” it during exam panic, Works because motor cortex stores different than verbal memory ✨Example: Write “n = m/M” 15x while saying “moles equals mass over molar mass” 👉🏻THE ACRONYM VIOLENCE METHOD For: Lists, series, groups Make acronyms but with shock value (your brain alerts to threats) 🍎Reactivity Series: “Please Send Charlie’s Mangy Zebra Away In The Lead Coffin” Potassium Sodium Calcium Magnesium Zinc Aluminum Iron Tin Lead Copper 🍓Strong Acids: “Hippos Need Cool Baths Silly Humans Provide” HCl HNO₃ HClO₄ HBr H₂SO₄ HI HClO₃ 👉🏻THE FINGER TAP ENCODING For: Formulas with multiple variables Tap different fingers for each variable while reciting Example - Ideal Gas Law (PV=nRT): Thumb = P (Pressure) Index = V (Volume) Middle = n (moles) Ring = R (constant) Pinky = T (Temperature) Tap fingers in sequence while saying it. Your fingers become triggers. 👉🏻THE OPPOSITE PAIR TRICK For: Distinguishing similar concepts Learn opposites side-by-side with exaggerated differences Examples: Oxidation = UGLY (loses electrons, loses beauty) / Reduction = BEAUTIFUL (gains electrons, gains beauty) Exothermic = FIRE/HOT / Endothermic = ICE/COLD Anode = NEGATIVE Nancy / Cathode = POSITIVE Paul 👉🏻THE METAMORPHOSIS CHAIN For: Organic conversion sequences Visualize organic molecules as Pokemon evolving ✨Example Chain: Alkane → (halogenation) → Haloalkane → (substitution with OH) → Alcohol → (oxidation) → Aldehyde → (further oxidation) → Carboxylic Acid ✨Think: “Squirtle → Wartortle → Blastoise” but with molecules. 👉🏻TOP 5 HIGHEST-IMPACT METHODS FOR CHEMISTRY: Muscle Memory Method (formulas) - 15x writing + saying Trigger Word Explosion (knowing what to use when) Opposite Pair Trick (distinguishing similar concepts) Pattern Theft (don’t understand, just copy templates) Exam Trigger Setup (physical cues for recall under pressure) #study #studytips #studymotivation #chemistry #chemistryexam

The library built to outlast humanity. This piece of glass can store data for 10,000 years and is kept in a library managed by robots. A laser etches the data inside the glass, permanently encoding it. One piece can store the equivalent of 13 years worth of music or 3,500 movies. When your great-great-great-great grandkids are ready to read it, little robots go and fetch the right glass card and bring it to a microscope that scans the data and decodes. To find out when you might have a glass library of your own, follow along! #science #tech #data #laser #robot shorts

OPTIMAL STUDYING & LEARNING PROTOCOLS: WHAT THE SCIENCE SAYS • - The episode of the Huberman Lab podcast out now is all about the best ways to study and learn based on the peer reviewed research of this topic. - One of the key takeaways is that tests— particular self administered tests that are aimed not just a evaluation of knowledge, but that are placed very soon after learning, can measurably improve the durability and depth of learning (anything). - So don’t fear testing. In fact, test yourself soon after learning something and where you find errors in your understanding, take that into account. but also know that the mere act of testing offsets forgetting. - If you look at all learning as a form of offsetting forgetting of new material you’ve been exposed to, and you understand that tests are the best way to offset forgetting, you will become a better student, regardless of whether you are in school or what you are trying to learn. - The episode includes lots of protocols spelled out will be be leaving shortly. clearly based on the best research. - You can find the episode in all formats by going to hubermanlab.com. It is timestamped in detail so that you can navigate quickly to the topics most of interest to you. - Please put any questions in the comments section below this post. - And as always, thank you for your interest in science! - @hubermanlab @stanford.med @stanford - #neuroscience #science #ciencia #neurociencia #learning #memory #neuroplasticity #tests #mentalrehearsal #gap #forget #encoding

What is Amelogenesis Imperfecta? 🦷 Did you know? Amelogenesis Imperfecta (AI) isn’t just one condition—it’s a group of rare genetic disorders that affect the development of tooth enamel. 🧬 The Cause: AI is caused by defects in the genes responsible for encoding enamel matrix proteins. These genetic mutations disrupt the body’s ability to build proper tooth enamel. ⚙️ The Three Stages Affected: The disorder can interfere with one or more critical phases of enamel development: 1. Protein Matrix Formation (Enamel doesn’t form correctly) 2. Mineralization (Enamel doesn’t harden properly) 3. Maturation (Enamel doesn’t reach full strength/structure) 🔍 Classification: To diagnose AI, specialists look at three specific factors, leading to four distinct types of the disorder: · Pattern of Inheritance (How it runs in families) · Clinical Manifestations (What the teeth look like) · Radiographic Findings (What X-rays reveal about enamel thickness and density) 📌Learn more with VOKA 3D Anatomy & Pathology —visualize complex conditions like never before! #Dentistry #3Danimation #3Danatomy #meded #medtech

Ever forget what you were about to say… then suddenly remember it 30 minutes later after going down a rabbit hole? 😅 Here’s the thing: forgetfulness isn’t a flaw—it’s a signal. Your brain’s overloaded, distracted, or not encoding information properly. 🧠 Want to boost your memory on demand? Try these 3 hacks: 🔘 Be present – multitasking kills memory. 🔘 Use associations – your brain loves connections. 🔘 Visualize it – turn information into mental images. 🔁 Share this with that friend who turns every story into a rabbit hole. 🐰
