IAMost people assume Katniss Everdeen is an Enneagram 8 because she’s strong, rebellious, and refuses to be controlled.
But Katniss actually looks a lot like Enneagram Type 6: The Loyalist.
Type 6s are wired to constantly scan their environment for safety and threat. Their minds are often asking:
Who can I trust? What could go wrong? How do I protect the people I love?
When you watch Katniss through that lens… everything starts to make sense.
She hunts to feed her family.She studies the arena before anyone else does.She reads people quickly and rarely trusts authority blindly.
And then comes the moment that defines her character.
She volunteers for Prim.
Because protecting the people she loves matters more than her fear.
One thing people often misunderstand about Type 6s:
They’re sometimes labeled as “anxious” or overly cautious.
But healthy Type 6s are actually some of the most courageous people in the room.
They feel fear deeply and still step forward when it matters.
That’s why Katniss becomes the Mockingjay.
Not because she craves leadership. Because her loyalty pulls her into it.
If you relate to Katniss, you might notice these patterns:
• You feel deeply responsible for the people you love
• You’re always thinking a few steps ahead
• Trust doesn’t come easily
• You often carry more emotional responsibility than others around you
These traits can make you incredibly loyal, protective, and insightful.
But they can also lead to hypervigilance, over-functioning, and burnout.
Growth for Type 6 patterns:
1: Let someone else carry responsibility sometimes. You don’t always have to be the protector.
2: Notice when your mind is scanning for danger.
3: Strengthen trust in your inner guidance. Type 6s often look outward for certainty and need to learn to trust their own judgment.
4: Allow yourself to receive support. Loyal people often forget they deserve loyalty back.
When type 6s grow, their fear transforms into courageous leadership.
Just like Katniss.
