TOThis story is from Eric Edelstein—one of the incredibly talented actors I’m lucky to coach.
He told me there have only been two times in his career when he had to sneak off to the bathroom just to Google a co-star.
The first was Anton Yelchin.
The second? Don Murray.
Eric did a scene with Don and was completely in awe of how open and present he was. Later, he found out Don had been nominated for an Oscar in 1956… and starred opposite Marilyn Monroe. But the craziest part?
He was better in 2016 than he was in 1956.
Don never stopped growing. He used his Hollywood clout to buy land for refugees in Sardinia. Told old Marilyn stories to Italian officials just to help people.
This is what inspires me every day as a coach—the idea that actors can keep getting better. At 30, at 60, at 80.
