In the 1930s repurposing wasn’t a trend, it was a necessity. Nothing went to waste, not even the bags the flour was packaged in. When flour manufacturers saw women turning their sacks into clothing, diapers, dish cloths, and more, they started printing pretty patterns on them to bring a little cheer to what was an otherwise depressing time. While the moms of the past used cotton sacks to dress their families, we’re using recycled water bottles to reduce diaper and kitchen waste in the future! With this new collection we wanted to honor the history of resourcefulness by recreating those classic prints. Reusing and recycling materials is not only a great way to be more sustainable - it’s also a part of our American heritage! Cover 📸: @alivanderkolk

✨ The Continuum Collection ✨ This first release has been a long time in the making… and now, it’s almost here. As we count down to launch, we’ve been reflecting on everything that’s gone into bringing this collection to life. From curating artwork from the archives, to selecting fabrics, to the hands that carefully cut and sew each piece, every step has been guided with intention, care and a deep love for what we create. What begins as ideas, artwork and swatches becomes something more meaningful when it reaches you. It becomes part of your everyday moments, your memories, your family story. Continuum is a reflection of that journey. A thread connecting where we’ve been, what we’re creating now, and the families who bring it all to life. Launching tomorrow. We can’t wait for you to experience it 🤍 #DesignerBums #ContinuumCollection #ReusableNappies #EcoEssentials #SustainableLiving

When you pick synthetic fibres like polyester over natural fibres you’re basically picking to put your child into a bin bag. Synthetic fibres don’t breathe, they leave your child hot and sweaty and cause irritation on their skin. The process of creating the fibres uses a lot of chemicals which can leach into children’s skin, and when washed release microplastics into our water. We only use natural fibres, that breathe, are soft on our baby’s skin and are better for the planet 🤎 These Wilds | vintage inspired childrenswear

If you want to start replacing those plastic fabrics, these are the 5 natural fabrics I recommend parents look for first: 1. Organic cotton jersey Soft, breathable and ideal for everyday basics like underwear, tees and pajamas. 2. Organic cotton muslin Extremely breathable and lightweight — perfect for babies and warm weather. 3. Linen Durable, cooling and naturally breathable for summer clothing. 4. Merino wool Temperature regulating and moisture-wicking, ideal for base layers and winter pieces. 5. Organic cotton fleece (brushed cotton) A natural alternative to polyester sweatshirts and fleece. You don’t need to overhaul your child’s wardrobe overnight. Start with the pieces closest to their skin — underwear, pajamas and base layers. Comment START and I’ll send you my guide to choosing safer fabrics for kids’ clothing. 🌿

It finally feels like spring is in the air — which means it’s time for my annual linen appreciation post. Because most parents have no idea how incredible this fabric actually is for kids. • Linen can absorb up to 20% of its weight in moisture without feeling damp, helping keep little bodies cool when the weather warms up. • It’s 2–3× stronger than cotton, which is why linen clothes can last for years of play and washing. • It’s made from the flax plant — a pure natural fibre, not a petroleum-derived plastic like so many modern kids’ fabrics. • Flax fibres naturally inhibit bacterial growth, which is why linen has historically been used in medical bandages and bedding. • It gets softer every time you wash it, rather than breaking down like many fabrics do. In other words: one of the oldest fabrics in the world is still one of the best things you can put on a child. Comment LINEN and I’ll send you a link to our OEKO-TEX certified linen collection for littles. 🌿
