After establishing the line work, I turned to aquatint to breathe atmosphere into the plate.
A fine dusting of rosin settles onto the copper, creating a delicate resist that allows tones to emerge through successive etches.
Using Sharpie as a stop-out, I work in stages — protecting areas, etching, and repeating — slowly building a full range of light and shadow.
It’s a challenging dance between control and surrender, and I love the quiet intensity of the process.
