On X (Twitter), people posted 27.5 million messages in just three days about Rafah.
Celebrities, influencers, politicians â everyone posted it.
For a moment, it felt like the entire world was watching.
But then the internet moved on.
The hashtags stopped trending.
The posts slowed down.
The conversation faded.
The tragedy didnât end.
At one point, over 1.3 million displaced Palestinians were sheltering in Rafah, a city that normally had a population of just 300,000 people.
Thousands of families were living in tents.
And the war continued.
Yet today, the same timelines that once shouted
âAll Eyes on Rafahâ are mostly silent.
This is the strange reality of the digital age.
A tragedy goes viral.
Millions talk about it.
And then, slowly, the world scrolls away.
But the people living through it donât get to scroll away.
The war doesnât stop just because the internet stopped talking about it.
So the real question isnât:
âWhat happened in Rafah?â
The real question is:
âWhy did we stop looking?â
If the world once said All Eyes on Rafah,
