Innovation meets conservation in the Everglades! Scientists are deploying solar-powered, remote-controlled “robot rabbits” to lure invasive Burmese pythons out of hiding in Florida. 🐍🐇 The robotic rabbit decoys give off heat and scent, tricking pythons into thinking they’ve found prey. Equipped with cameras, the robots alert officials when a snake appears so removal teams can respond quickly. South Florida Water Management District and the University of Florida teamed up to come up with this creative solution. Burmese pythons are one of the most destructive invasive species in Florida, preying on native birds, mammals, and reptiles—and stealing food sources from panthers, raptors, and bobcats. Every python removed helps protect South Florida’s incredible biodiversity.  🎥: @sfwmd_gov 🧢: @mtrainierwatch #nationalparknews

Every time Florida thinks it has reached peak Florida something like this shows up and reminds everyone that this state is basically a live action nature documentary. A calm Naples style afternoon suddenly turns wild when a gator and a massive Burmese python lock up in the shallows. The mangroves are quiet, the water is smooth, and then everything erupts in a scene that looks straight out of the Everglades. People across the country see a python wrapped around a gator and ask how anyone lives here. People in Naples see it and immediately try to guess the neighborhood. Port Royal with its hidden canals. Golden Gate Estates with endless land and constant wildlife surprises. Maybe a quiet corner near Naples Bay where nature always finds a way to steal the spotlight. That is the Naples lifestyle. Beauty, calm, and wild energy existing all at once. Burmese pythons are invasive in Florida and have spread across huge parts of South Florida. Wildlife experts talk about them nonstop, and this clip shows exactly why. The coil, the power, the splash, the roll, the sudden release. No filters, no effects, just a native gator meeting an invasive python in a raw Florida standoff. Moments like this feel unreal and completely normal at the same time. Anyone who spends time in Southwest Florida knows how fast a peaceful canal can turn into chaos. One second it looks like a postcard, the next second it looks like a wildlife documentary being filmed behind someone’s backyard. This is the side of Naples most people never see. The canals, the marsh edges, the hidden pockets of water near Marco and North Naples. All of it is part of a living ecosystem where native wildlife and invasive species collide in dramatic ways. It is why Florida clips travel so far and why Naples always ends up in conversations about the wild side of the state. This is Southwest Florida in its purest form. Peaceful one moment, unforgettable the next. Naples sunsets, calm water, and wildlife that never sticks to any script. A reminder that nature here is powerful, unpredictable, and always closer than people think. #florida #onlyinflorida #naplesflorida #floridawildlife #swfl

Some moments expose the real Naples more clearly than any headline or postcard. The city is known for calm mornings, pristine beaches, and neighborhoods designed to feel protected from the unpredictable parts of the world. Yet beneath that sense of order is a landscape that has never stopped being wild. A nursery is supposed to represent complete safety. It is the room people guard the most. It is where trust lives. Seeing a Florida panther step into that setting feels shocking, but it also reflects an ecological reality that has shaped this region long before development arrived. The Florida panther is one of the rarest animals in North America, moving through what is left of its territory with quiet intention. Its appearance in this environment tells the story of an ecosystem pressing up against the edges of human comfort. The python tells another story. It represents decades of unintended consequences that reshaped the Everglades and forced native species to adapt in ways no one expected. Both animals show how complex and interwoven Florida’s environment has become. When they appear in the same space, the moment becomes a portrait of a region still negotiating the terms of coexistence. This video does not feel dramatic because of danger. It feels dramatic because it reveals how close these two worlds actually are. Naples is peaceful, but it is built on land where ancient instincts still operate in silence. Most days those instincts stay out of sight. Some days they step directly into the frame and remind us that the natural world is never far from the places we consider safe. That is why this moment feels profound. It captures the true character of Southwest Florida. Beauty and unpredictability living side by side. Human spaces and wild spaces touching without warning. A reminder that nature is not something separate from everyday life here. It surrounds us. It watches us. It shapes the identity of this place far more than people realize. Naples may feel orderly, but it remains part of a living wilderness that will always find its way back into the story. #naplesflorida #floridapanther #everglades #naplescommunity #onlyinflorida
