Comment “project” for my full video that breaks each of these projects down in detail with examples from my own work. If you’re using the Titanic, Iris, or COVID-19 dataset for data analytics projects, STOP NOW! These are so boring and over used and scream “newbie”. You can find way more interesting datasets for FREE on public data sites and you can even make your own using ChatGPT or Claude! Here are the 3 types of projects you need: ↳Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA): Exploring a dataset to uncover insights through descriptive statistics (averages, ranges, distributions) and data visualization, including analyzing relationships between variables ↳Full Stack Data Analytics Project: An end-to-end project that covers the entire data pipeline: wrangling data from a database, cleaning and transforming it. It demonstrates proficiency across multiple tools, not just one. ↳Funnel Analysis: Tracking users or items move from point A to point B, and how many make it through each step in between. This demonstrates a deeper level of business thinking by analyzing the process from beginning to end and providing actionable recommendations to improve it Save this video for later + send to a data friend!

watch this if you want to become a data analyst in 2026, these are my top simple tips 📊 1. Learn SQL: its the tool you’ll use to get data from databases, and then use to analyse business performance 2. Learn Excel or something similar: it’s great for ad hoc analysis and building engaging charts and diagrams 3. Get familiar with a reporting tool, you don’t need to be great at this just an understanding is fine 4. The core skills are communicating your insights clearly and understanding business metrics Save this and come back to it when you’re planning what to learn, I have links on my profile for courses/guides for each of these aspects!

If I were building a data analytics portfolio in 2026, these are the 3 projects I’d make sure to include 👇 An EDA project to show you can explore data, find patterns, and communicate insights clearly. A full-stack analytics project that proves you can take messy raw data → clean it → analyze it → and turn it into dashboards and KPIs using tools like SQL and BI platforms. And a funnel analysis that shows you actually understand the business side of data — identifying where users drop off and turning that into real product or marketing insights. Save this for when you start building your portfolio. Follow @migratemate for international student career tips that actually help you land jobs. 🚀

Python Data Visualization for Exploratory Analysis Good data analysis starts with asking the right questions, and visualization helps you answer them faster. This cheat-sheet style guide brings together essential Python visualization techniques used during exploratory data analysis. It covers patterns at a single-variable level, relationships between variables, multivariate insights, time-based trends, text exploration, and plot customization. These are the exact visual checks analysts rely on before modeling or reporting. Whether you work with business data, research datasets, or real-world production data, strong visuals help you spot outliers, understand distributions, compare categories, and communicate insights clearly. Save it for reference and revisit it whenever you start exploring a new dataset. If you’re thinking about becoming a data analyst in 2026, This is something I wish someone had told me earlier. You don’t need to learn everything at once. And you definitely don’t need to feel behind just because others seem to be doing more. Start with just 3 things: 1️⃣ Excel - for thinking in rows, logic, and edge cases 2️⃣ SQL - because this is still how real data is pulled 3️⃣ Basic maths & stats - enough to explain why, not just calculate Then do this (most people skip this step): • Practice SQL until writing queries feels boring • Clean messy data, not perfect datasets • Build 2–3 projects and explain them like a business story Courses don’t make you hireable. Application does. If I were starting today, I’d spend less time collecting certificates and more time solving real problems end-to-end.
