Export the footage only in 1080p (1080×1920) in h.264 format. Make sure the file size is under 40-50 Megabytes with a bitrate of -40mbit. otherwise Your footage will be compressed for less storage space on the servers and compression decreases the quality & sharpness. Select 'High quality uploads' in Advance settings when you Post reel. Posting almost every other day for over 6 months definitely has its benefits. I've tested many export settings, including 4k, high but rate, low bit rate, mp4, mov, h.265, h.264 and more. These are THE BEST Premiere Pro export settings for vertical content on Instagram reels. The most important: ▪️Export in 1080p ▪️30 fps ▪️~10mbps Bitrate (VBR or CBR works) ▪️AAC audio ▪️Render at maximum bit depth and maximum quality ▪️Aim for your file to be no larger than 75MB Hope this helps!

These are my export settings to post 4k reels to instagram. I think there are lots of export settings that work i’ve seen multiple different variations of this setup but these are the ones that work for me. Here are some extra details that make a difference in your quality on Instagram: 1️⃣ Color grade: the color grade of your video matters quite a bit to get the “4k look” I tend to oversaturate my 4k videos a little bit and play with the curves to up the contrast. This makes the video pop a little bit more and helps to catch the viewers eye. Make sure to not over do it though because it is super easy to blow out the colors or the highlights/blacks 2️⃣ Sharpness: I usually add a little bit of sharpness to my node tree in DaVinci to make the reflections on the helmets and other fine details pop. This one is also easy to overdo so be careful with it but it can really make a big difference. 3️⃣ Noise: You want to make sure your base footage has as little noise as possible when your are initially shooting since that will give you the cleanest possible image to start with. If you need to you can use some denoising in DaVinci or other Denoise software/plugins too.
