JAI purchased the EZScreen photo emulsion silk screen starter kit.
The instructions were very clear and easy to follow.
I designed my imagery in Canva.
Printed them with the highest level of blackness directly onto paper from my printer.
Brought them into a local photocopy shop to print onto overhead transparency.
And then followed the instructions for exposing the emulsion sheet:
This involved stacking a glass/acrylic layer over the transparency in reverse on top of the emulsion sheet with a layer of felt underneath that and a hardboard below that. This was all clipped together and exposed directly in the sun for 30 seconds.
Then it was covered and brought inside, and the emulsion layer was rinsed with water and exposed again outside to harden everything. I was able to use it immediately.
I should mention that I did this process twice, first with testing some of the images and text I planned to use on one sheet and then once I successfully tested the printing on clay , I then made some slight adjustments and completed the final run for each of the cards and currency.
The good thing about using this product is that it can be used on rounded surfaces.

OTI've had so many DM's about this process. It's a multi layered (multi-coloured) screen print using @ezscreenprint and is really simple to make. I start out with a printed copy of my image and I work to break it down into individual layers for each colour. I usually do this on photoshop but wanted to show that you don't need a computer to do this; you can create each layer using a light box (or a window) and a sharpie. I trace any black outlines first, then on a separate sheet of paper I trace out and shade in any red areas. I do this again on separate sheets of paper for the yellow layer and the green. I copy and print each of these layers using a laser printer and transparencies (I always print 2 copies and stack them before exposing)
Once I have the transparencies prepared I can expose the EZ screens using a UV light - rinse and dry the screens according to the instructions (included with the EZ screens) and they are ready to print. I can do a large run of screen prints, with 4 colours in one session. Happy to answer any questions you might have.

OTThe question I'm asked most is how I prep my screens for printing. The answer is simple; I do it exactly the same way as a screen printer, albeit with much cheaper equipment. The underglaze breaks down the emulsion much quicker than acrylic inks, so I need an option that allows me to burn screens from home rather than sending them off to be done for me. It's dead easy once you get the hang of it. I'm slowly investing in good quality screens from @flat_fox and always use their diazo emulsion. I've got the timings down to a fine art for my setup now. I also use @ezscreenprint pre emuslioned screens for my work, which are amazing if you don't want to buy lots of equipment. Just an FYI, this is a handbuilt setup that I made myself using sheets of wood and an old metal cutter for levelling cakes from my cake decorating days.
